Main Hall

Main Hall

This was the 11th Sugarcraft Exhibition held jointly by Cheltenham & Gloucester Branches of the British Sugarcraft Guild, however, this year we decided to expand the size and scope of our Exhibition. We included Competitions for the first time and also invited other craft stalls along to increase the interest for non-dedicated Sugarcrafters. In order to cope with the extra space needed for these we had to look for a larger venue, Cheltenham Town Hall met all our requirements, and gave us a very impressive setting.

After a lot of time and hard work the Exhibition opened its doors half an hour earlier than originally planned. There were impressive displays of Sugarcraft skills by the Branches attending the Exhibition. The BSG Judges attending gave every Branch an award, and three Branches were given Gold awards, which gives some idea of the standard of work on display. We also had three lovely tables by Cygnet groups (under 16's) all of which also received awards for their work.

In the craft area there was a wonderful array of stalls selling everything from cookies to candles and woodwork to jewellery. The displays were beautiful to look at and also very reasonably priced.

There was also a wide assortment of Sugarcraft traders providing equipment for the novice and expert alike, along with lots of expert advice,

The Competition area was also very impressive, the time and effort being reflected in the quality of work on display. There was also a wonderful aroma from all the rich fruit cakes on display.

The Exhibition was well attended and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. It was a very relaxed and friendly show, well worth all the time and hard work that was involved.
