This schedule has been drawn up in conjunction with the British Sugarcraft Guild, 'Competition Guidelines for Organisers, Judges and Competitors - issue 5 '. A copy of this may be purchased from the B.S.G Head Office. Every Branch has a copy for reference.
All competition entry forms and fees must reach the competition organiser by 20th May 2000.
The Hall will be open for competitors from 8.30am and all competition entries must be in place by 9.30am on 11th June 2000. Judging will commence at 10.00am sharp.
All competitors must book in with the competition organisers before placing their exhibit. No exhibits may be removed before the close of the exhibition at 4.00pm.
Competitions are open to anyone and only one entry is allowed per class. Any item that has won any previous award (B.S.G or other) will not be accepted.
The organisers reserve the right to use photographs they have taken of competitor's exhibits.
Whilst every reasonable care will be taken, the organisers cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage which may occur on the premises.

1. Boards may be of any shape, but must fit within a square of the dimensions shown for each class. Allowance will be made for normal manufacturing tolerance. There is no height restriction unless specifically stated..
2. Dummy cakes may be used in all classes unless otherwise specified..
3. When 'no artificial decoration allowed' is stated this includes wires, floristry tape, stamens, ribbon, tulle, cotton, dried flowers & foliage and gold & silver paint/powders..
4. In every class ribbon or other trim is allowed on the edge of the board..
5. A plaque must be made from any edible medium and must not be a coated board..
6. Porcelain Paste cannot be used. The judges reserve the right to break off a small piece to test if they suspect Porcelain Paste has been used..
7. Use of Gold and Silver: There are no restrictions on the use of non-toxic gold and silver
where sugar is to be used solely as an art medium and not meant to be eaten, unless
specified in the schedule, for example, a pastillage model, a wired flower arrangement, a decorated plaque or picture, a cake top or lift off plaque.
Gold or silver should not be painted directly on to the cake, or a dummy that is being used to represent a cake. Neither should gold or silver be painted directly onto a marzipan model, novelty cake, gateau, or any item to be eaten.
There are no restrictions on the use of real gold and silver leaf, and when used in
competitions, please declare it. Claims of other edible gold and silver colourings will only be accepted if the product bears the manufacturers label stating that it is edible and it is placed alongside the exhibit in an outer covering identified only by the Competitors entry number.
Competitors will be given the opportunity to talk to the Judges after the judging has finished. The time will be announced on the day.

Children are limited to winning a maximum of three Gold awards in any one age group.

A Novice is a beginner or someone new to a particular skill who has not yet won an award (Gold, Silver or Bronze) in any ONE class at any B.S.G Competition (Children's Division excepted). A Novice may enter any other Class in which they have not yet won an award.

Open to any Competitor except those who have won three Gold awards in any one class in the Open Division, e.g. three gold awards in the Sugarpaste class means they cannot enter this class, but may enter any other class. Competitors need not have previously entered the Novice Division.

Open to all those who have won a gold award in any Sugarcraft Division of a Major Competition. Competitors are limited to winning a maximum of three gold awards in any one class in this Division. In addition, Competitors entering the Master Division are not allowed to enter, at the same exhibition, an exhibit of the same category at a lower division, e.g. An exhibit of Marzipan work will not be accepted for the Novice or Open Divisions if the Competitor is also entering an exhibit of Marzipan work in the Masters Division. A Competitor who has received an award through another organisation may apply to the organisers to be considered as eligible to enter the Master Division.
