The Novelty Cake was one of the set pieces worth a substantial proportion of the marks. This was done mainly by Kathy and Monica, and I painted some of the labels. We thought a pile of assorted luggage, which no self-respecting first-class passenger would be seen without, would fit in with our theme.

Marzipan was used to give a leather effect on the cases. Many pieces were air-brushed to add to the well travelled look. All the gilt fasteners and buckles were coloured using Edible Arts Royal Gold dusting powder.
